A Whisper.

It was a beautiful morning. The sun was shining, birds were singing, the camera was packed, and the road was calling. Eastmountainsouth serenaded us as we swayed with the curves of the road. I closed my eyes and felt my hair and the wind join in a graceful dance on my face. The smells of country floated peacefully, unstirred by our quick turns and spinning tires. I breathed in deep and felt alive.
My mind turned to Elijah. A prophet who, just when the Lord wanted to use him, became discouraged and lost focus. He ran away in fear of circumstances in his life that were beyond himself. He turned to his owns strategies to find confidence. After receiving a blessing of food he gained strength and traveled for forty days and forty nights. He found rest in a cave and was awakened by the word of the Lord. He stood at the entrance of the cave where he saw a great wind tear the mountains apart and shatter the rocks, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind was a big earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. Then there was a great fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
Then came a gentle whisper from God... and Elijah came out of the cave.

Elijah stayed safe in his cave. It wasn't until he heard the whisper of God that he came out. It wasn't until he came out of his cave that he could have fellowship with the Lord, hear His voice, and be strengthened and restored. Elijah's cave was a good representation of his human strategy for refuge.. but by God bringing him out of the cave He showed Elijah that He alone is to be his refuge.

I was reminded to rest my expectations in His hands and to trust in His timing and strength. That the Lord isn't through with me and that my failures don't defeat me. We set ourselves up for discouragement when we are full of pride and expectations and don't rest on God's wisdom.

God doesn't always show himself in spectacular ways. He doesn't always speak to us through some grandiose display. Sometimes all it takes is a country road, a soft breeze on your cheeks, and His gentle whisper. That's when you breathe in deep.. and you feel alive.

L&L

In an attempt to clean up and organize my hard drive I came across this shoot.
I posted a sneak peak about 8 months ago with 3 of the pictures from the day here.

I opened the folder and remembered how much fun the four of us had. One of my favorite shoots ever.
Here are some of my favorites..
in honor of their 3 months of marriage on Saturday:)

p.s. i want to shoot you again..SOON.

Weddings!

I know I still need to finish posting my own wedding pictures but I've had photos from my friends weddings in my "blogthis" folder for far too long... besides, there was enough B&H mushygushyness in the last post.
Donna and Aaron were married 3 weeks before us and Luke and Lauren were married three weeks after us! Both couples are four of our closest friends and both weddings were so beautiful and unique.
I love weddings. I love love... and really really love capturing love on film.

GLAIZE WEDDING:
Her dad would stand silently in the corner of the room just watching her. It was terribly sweet and I must admit I totally used my camera to hide a tear:)

They left for their honeymoon later the next day and wanted to do an early morning"day after" session at Balboa park (where they got engaged). So sweet!

HERRINGTON WEDDING:

and here's a few of us from the tasty rehearsal dinner!
