Jessica

The first time I met Jessica was 10 years ago. She was a friend of a friend. We didn't know each other but from what I knew of her I liked her. During our senior year of high school we got to know each other better. I'm so glad we did because she is such a wonderful lady! Smart, beautiful, funny, fun loving and did I say beautiful?
Jessica is graduating from UCSD this year! We got together to take some graduation portraits and had such a fun time getting to catch up! Congratulations Jessica! Here's to a bright future.

Matt & Jenna

It all started in high school english class. He was the boy all of her friends liked, quiet and smart. She was the girl that asked him how to spell words correctly. School years went by, essays were written, and the first chapter of their lives together had begun. It was their senior year and everyone was talking about colleges, universities, and future plans. Matthew and Jenna were planning on attending the same university but Jenna was becoming more interested in her future plans with Matthew. They both attended a PLNU freshman preview night and got to know each other better. Their time spent together began to grow. Jenna was feeling more strongly about their future plans and now Matthew was too. They spent the next four years making memories and enjoying life together on the beautiful campus of Point Loma. In November Matthew took Jenna to the top of the campus library where candles and dessert awaited. He told her how much he loved her and asked her to be his forever. Jenna, who had been dreaming of this day since high school english, excitedly accepted.

The love these two share is a quiet one . It's soft, it's gentle, and it's remarkably genuine. I loved the time I was given to spend with them, learn them, laugh with them, love them, and see them exactly the way they are. Matthew and Jenna will be getting married this July and I'm honored and excited to be capturing their special day.

WPPI

So for a long time I've been wanting to go to WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International). It's a conference for photographers in Las Vegas. It's kind of expensive and would've required some time off from work but Brett and I felt like we were really supposed to go, so we began praying. God totally provided and worked out some very tight kinks. Before we knew it the path was paved and we were going!

The conference was last week. I've been home now for 4 days and I miss it so much!! I told Brett that I miss WPPI like I miss a boyfriend that came to visit for the weekend then had to go back home. Haha! I don't even know what that's like but that's how I'd say I feel. I learned a ton, I met so many awesome people, and I was continually being inspired. It was such a neat experience and so refreshing to leave my everyday life and submerge myself in a little creative bubble for a couple of days. I have a engagement shoot tomorrow and a couple more shoots in the next few weeks that I'm so excited about. Time to put my new knowledge to use!

Stormy San Diego

I can't believe we've actually been having a "winter" here in sunny San Diego! ... Well, as winter as it gets here. Supposedly we have more rain moving in Saturday! I love it. I could never live in a place that's like this all the time but short spurts with breaks of warm sunshine is A-OK with me.

A little over a month ago we had a crazy storm. It lasted for days and we got the works. Lightning, floods, hail, trees blowing over. It was awesome! One day a couple of us got together in celebration of Lauren's birthday. Our original plans sort of fell apart so we decided to grab Starbucks and go storm chasing! We had a blast!

First stop: Fashion Valley Mall, Flood Zone

This is the bottom level of the parking garage!
The San Diego River decided to take a little detour through there.

We wanted to see some real storm action but it was all sunshine in Fashion Valley. We saw dark storm clouds to the east and were told it was hailing in that direction. So... we decided to jump in the car and head east until we hit the storm! We were very east when we decided we had gone far enough and were going to turn around. While we looked for an exit we saw a big sign that said "Caution: Storm Ahead". We took that as our sign to keep going:) So we kept going.
After getting through the rain we got a little surprise.. we hit snow! We pulled over and played around in the little white flurries falling around us.

Here's a little video from the road that shows just how San Diego we are;)

When we got home we were excited to see that it had just hailed and obviously heavily hailed. We walked around and absorbed the rare scene of white lining the San Diego streets.

After a good meal of Mexican food we watched for lightning as the boys went and got a movie.
What a fun day! I think I could dig this storm chasing thing.

Announcement

Big announcement!
No... we're not having a baby:)

For the past month or so I have spent countless hours working on some very, very exciting things. It's no secret that my dream has been to move in to photography full time. Well ladies and gentlemen... it's happening. At the beginning of January I started thinking about the things I wanted to do with this year, the things He wanted to do in me this year. Photographically speaking, I spent much of last year being fearful, non-committed, self-reliant, doubtful, and discouraged. I decided this year I would spend time seeking Him in it all instead... let Him show me His way. As I let go, I felt more inspired, stronger, and encouraged.
I am fully committed to this. I will keep moving forward and with Him I will succeed.

Today heatherpepin.com was launched. I know this is probably 100 times more exciting to me than it is to any of you but it's piece of a dream come true and I felt the need to document it. Why? Because this is the first day of a very long, happy, and fruitful journey. I can't wait to live out all that it holds.. and one day I'll look back on this post and praise Him for how far he's brought me.

So my lovely blog readers. I need your help. Take a look at the site! Let me know what you think. Is everything working? What's annoying? Suggestions?
And spread the word! There's strength in numbers... and according to my numbers there's a lot of you silent readers out there:) Thanks for reading! Stick with me.. some very very exciting things are happening!
