Yesterday was day 1 and I did something I said I'd never do. I participated in a 5k! I am in no way the picture of athleticism. It's not that I can't play sports, run, or go to the gym it's just that it doesn't interest me whatsoever. I'd much rather go on a beautiful hike or take a walk with a cute puppy. So when Lauren asked if I wanted to join her for The Color Run I was hesitant at first. 5ks and marathons have never been the type of thing I put on my bucket list. I just didn't have an ounce of desire to do one. Then I looked up the color run and changed my mind. This 5k was not about winning, running, or training. It was about one thing and one thing only. COLOR.
If everyone could participate in something like this once a month then the world be a much happier place! Haha. First off, no one cares about running. You can walk, dance, or cartwheel your way to the end. In fact, the slower you go the better because you don't want the fun to end. Secondly, all of the proceeds from the race go to a good cause. Also, this thing is just so darn fun! It was absolutely magical. I'll let the iPhone pics from the day tell the story...

Before and after. I love that the floor and the background have even changed.

You are hit with a new color at each course marker. Yellow, green, purple, then pink!

At the end of the 5k you join with the others that finished with you and have a big color celebration. Everyone gets their own color packet, you dance, cheer, and at the end of the countdown you throw your color together. It was amazing!

Dancing in the color cloud.

The ground should always look like this:)
It was a perfect day with some of my favorite ladies and the perfect kick off to birthday week. I totally want to do it again!
And now... for a photo that has made me laugh so many times. After the big color celebration we headed over to the blower guy. He stood in the middle of the circle and helped everyone de-color some for the drive home. This was my turn.... Hahahaha! And I will leave you with that. Happy Monday! I'm off to start celebrating day 2 of birthday week:)

P.S. The Color Run is coming down to San Diego in November. I would recommend it to anyone! There were people of ALL ages and lots of families with young ones. Really, this event would be fun for anyone! Check out their website if you want more information: HERE.
